Halloween season is in full swing across North Texas, and communities from The Colony to Fort Worth are filling the days leading up to Oct. 31 with trick-or-treating, festivals, costume contests and themed cocktails. Here is a look at what the region has in store.

In The Colony, Stewart Creek Park hosts Family Fright Fest on Saturday, Oct. 24, a free afternoon of hayrides, games, crafts and trick-or-treating at booths. Truck Yard's annual Halloween party the same day brings a limited-time spooky drink menu, costume contests and fortune tellers to all six of its Dallas-Fort Worth locations, including the new Richardson outpost. Grandscape rounds out the city's lineup later in the week with Emo Night Brooklyn, a DJ-led dance party of emo and pop-punk throwbacks on Thursday, Oct. 29, and a family-friendly Trick or Treat Extravaganza on Halloween evening.

Frisco's Saturday slate is equally packed. Halloween Par-Tee at the PGA District offers pumpkin putting on The Dance Floor, trick-or-treating from decorated golf carts, carnival games and face painting. Heritage Halloween at the Frisco Heritage Center features historic buildings decorated for the season, hands-on crafts, games, popcorn, cotton candy, balloon animals and a friendly fortune teller. And from 1 to 4 p.m., Trick or Treat the Square at Frisco Square brings carnival games, inflatables and horse-drawn wagon rides, with costumed kids collecting treats at participating businesses along Coleman Boulevard.

Also in Frisco, the Spookeasy pop-up inside Lounge by Topgolf at Omni PGA Frisco Resort & Spa pours themed cocktails such as the Blue Diablo Margarita, Pumpkin Spice White Russian and Dead Head Punch through Nov. 1. On Wednesday, Oct. 28, The Star's Little Stars Halloween returns to Tostitos Championship Plaza with a free morning of Halloween-themed games and treats for children ages five and under, and decorated strollers will be entered for a chance to win Nuna treats.

In Plano, the Rest in Plano (R.I.P.) Fest takes over the Downtown Plano Arts District and Haggard Park on Saturday with carnival rides, live performances, creepy characters and photo opportunities, plus themed cocktails and mocktails for purchase from Fillmore Pub. Legacy Hall follows on Tuesday, Oct. 27, with a free Trick-or-Treatery Halloween Parade that opens with a screening of Hotel Transylvania and continues with trick-or-treating throughout the hall and a costume parade for kids and pets.

McKinney's options include The Yard's Halloween Haunt, running through Oct. 31, where the restaurant is decked out in spiderwebs, pumpkins and skeletons and serves a seasonal menu featuring a Bobbing for Apples Old Fashioned and the S'mortuary, a vodka-spiked cold brew that benefits Cody's Friends Dog Rescue. The Stix Icehouse holds a free Trunk or Treat with Macaroni Kid on Thursday, Oct. 29 across its 14-acre property, where adults can try the Fridged Witch frozen green apple cocktail while kids sip the nonalcoholic Slimy Slushy topped with gummy worms and a vial of 'blood.' On Halloween, the Spooktacular Brews and Boos Walk sends costumed guests with a signature taster cup and map to more than 20 participating beverage stops in Historic Downtown McKinney.

Farther afield, the Fort Worth Zoo's Boo at the Zoo runs Friday through Sunday, with admission covering six treat coupons per ticket or membership plus a pumpkin patch, strolling characters, keeper chats, live animal presentations, a train ride and a carousel. Klyde Warren Park in Dallas holds its free sixth-annual Trick-or-Treating in the Park on Saturday, adding children's book giveaways from Book Drive for Kids and an outdoor screening of Toy Story 5. Downtown Celina's Beware! of the Square festival the same day offers trick-or-treating, a haunted manor, a kids' zone, Cirque sideshows, a pumpkin decorating contest and more than 60 market vendors.

For an adults-only outing, the Grapevine Vintage Railroad's Witches' Brew Train runs Oct. 30 and 31, a two-hour round-trip excursion in vintage 1920s coaches featuring Texas craft beer and spooky entertainment, with costumes encouraged.
